Litter Free B on C aims to have a Community Litter Champion for every street, road, close (etc) and green space in Burnham-on-Crouch and to inspire similar action across the Dengie.
Community Litter Champions volunteer their time to create a Litter Free Burnham.
Community Litter Champions improve areas by looking after the environment and encouraging neighbours, friends and passers-by to be more concerned about litter.
So why not help make Burnham a better place for all?
Sometimes our Community Litter Champions take on a bigger challenge. In August 2025 Litter Free B-on-C joined residents of Old Heath Road to do a 'big pick' of this lovely Burnham lane.
17 large bags were cleared from the ditches and road! A huge thank you to everyone who put on their gloves, grabbed their pickers, took hold of their sacks, and made Burnham a much better place today!
Did you know that empty medicine blister packs cannot be recycled in your pink sacks?
Dengie Climate Action Partnership has now provided a special blister pack recycling bin which is kindly being hosted by the Burnham Surgery and is just inside the main entrance. Funds raised from local donations, enabled us to purchase a blister pack Zero Waste Box from Terracycycle to gauge the demand for such a facility in the town.
You don't need to be a Burnham Surgery patient, but please only put EMPTY packs in the bin.
UPDATE: Currently Unavailable
The bin, which can accommodate approximately 7500 empty blister packs, was sited at the Surgery on 24th October 2025 and in just three weeks, the bin was completely full.
This clearly demonstrates the demand for such a facility locally and is a shocking indication of just how much unnecessary waste ends up in landfill or incinerators.
We have approached Town and District councillors requesting that a longer-term solution to blister pack recycling should be provided in the town.
